It’s All About The Golf!!!!!

This blog is to share my itch for playing the best golf
courses I can find. I am not into being pampered so you will not find info on
fine dining or lodging (I am just fine with Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn). I play
lots of golf some public and some private however; I am not a country club guy.
I do maintain a membership at a private club for one reason and one reason only.
I hate slow golf and, it’s actually cheaper to play if you play often.

So if you are someone who is looking for course amities or
you want to know how the staff conducted themselves (did they kiss my ass or
not) you won’t find it here. My relaxation comes from playing fine golf course
and over attentive club staff members get on my nerves.

California, San Francisco=== Harding Park===

REVIEW ON ITS WAY

Sothern California Coast === Pelican Hill North===

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is one of the finest I have ever played, defiantly in my top 20. Greens where rolling very nice about a 10 and, in super shape. The first few holes do not have ocean views so figuring out the ocean pull effect is something you might want to look into. I do not know much about the ocean currents but you can bet I will before I play another seaside course. I do know from what I experienced playing here that the ball wants to pull south west. It took me several holes to figure this out. For me putting the ball on this day was very difficult i.e. you have the ocean vs. elevation. IMO the ocean over powers the elevation here.

Driving the golf ball is fun here, with the generous fairways you can grip it and rip it. Don't get me wrong, the fairways are well bunkered and there are a lot of little rifts and valleys where you can find yourself….

Overall you should find this course to be very picturesque with ocean views on almost every hole. I can only tell you that on the day I played (8-08) the course conditions where 9.5 out of 10. I and my playing partner that day both agreed that it was better than Pebble Beach which we both played that week. I played this course on a Monday and pace of play was perfect and was not held up once.

Northern California Coast ===Sea Ranch Golf Links===

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not going to say much about this course because it would be very negative and I do not think it was because of the failure of management……If you are looking for vast ocean vistas this not the course. There are really only a few as seen below……I did not pay much for this course and dam glad of it….It was very dry and most of the vegetation was completely starving for water (Death Valley Dry). I played this with a local who sells vacation real estate and he was telling me that the area as been in drought conditions for several months. My only advice is to call ahead add ask about conditions if you don’t you may be very disappointed………..

The Over lay out is very nice and I am sure this would have been a very nice experience.

Tip check out www.golfnow.com for deals on this one……..

I played this course a few weeks before an LPGA event and they were growing the rough and tightening the fairways…Greens were in great shape and rolling fairly true. The front nine is a bit shorter than the back however it is swamped with grass bunkers that are very penalizing……..

I made a big mistake in making a morning tee time i.e. it was very foggy out and hindered some of the outstanding views….It did clear up for the back 9 though and was able to capture some of the outstanding views below…Wind and those dam fescue grass bunkers are really this golf courses best defense………

All in all this was I fine experience the club house and over all set up is just like I like it….Drive up, park, toss your shoes on, throw your bag on your shoulder and, head for the pro shop…..If you want papering they do have a upscale motel with outstanding views (as seen in the images bellow). One con though, NO DRIVING RANGE :o( .They had to use part of their second golf course as a range for the LPGA event……….
